- 1Visitors pay the full cost of treatment — Japan’s public health insurance doesn’t cover tourists.
- 2Travel insurance can be bought even after you arrive in Japan.
- 3Keep your receipt (領収書 ryōshūsho) and ask for a medical certificate (診断書 shindansho) for your insurer.
- 4Some clinics accept cash only — check before you go.
